why should the US submit its citizens to an "international court"
Please explain to me why the US is content when milosevic is put on trial in the Hague but refuses to deliver US citizens to that same court? Please explain why the US must be right by refusing when almost the entire world agreed? What makes The US so special that they should not have to stand trial in The Hague for crimes against humanity?

If you seriously believe nobody has the right to judge someone from outside the country of origin then please xplain to me what the hell you people are doing in Iraq? Judge Jury and Executioner? I support the Iraq intervention because of the horrible things Sadam inflicted on his people and the threat he posed for the western world. I supported it because I believe we, as a world, have the responsibility to intervene where gross injustice is present. The international court sends an important message: Even when you have your own country to protect yourself with...we will still prosecute you for crimes agains humanity. It sends a clear warning to dictators and wannabee dictators that they are not save from the world.

It also means that coutries are aware that their actions on the battlefield are closely watched. If you commit warcrimes you'll answer for it to the rest of the world. I think that's a good thing. Now what are you boys doing over there in Iraq that makes you so nervous about an international court? Probably nothing but the refusal to submit to an international court will only make the rest of the world wonder about it.

I have faith in the decency of the average US soldier but war is an ugly buisiness and governments can not always be trusted to do the right thing when their own people are involved. The victims should have an opportunity to bring their case forward in an unbiased court. The international court is that unbiased courtroom. Judges come from all over the world to maintain that unbiased reputation. So again.... why should the US be an exception to the rule. What makes the US so special that it people should not be held responsible in the same way the rest of the world is.
