Look palsy, learn how to read
As you either are not able to read, or not able to comprehend, or you just plain dislike Windows so much you are willfully blind to what?s written on a page, I?ll lay it out for you a little more carefully.

First off, Monkey_MCSE starts off by saying;
?There are a few home brewed programs that break when Sp2 comes into play.?

So my response is that there are many programs that will not run on different platforms and its impossible to expect any producer of an operating system to be able to support all of them. Particularly forever as all OS?s go through upgrading, also particularly when it?s a home brewed application. The writer of the application often has to take some responsibility themselves for modifying a program to work on a different OS or on an upgraded OS or at least make efforts to gain some level of cooperation through direct contact with the producer of the OS. Were non of these option, sorry but you are just out of luck!

The eventuality that Monkey_MCSE is not a common one, in fact I have seen the list of programs known to have issues with SP2 and it is not a large list. I had one program myself on the list and within weeks the producer of the program made a patch themselves that fixed the issue.

Now your great wisdom seemed to take notice of;
?You certainly seem to be pointing out that some programs only work on one operating system, when that is in fact what Monkey_MCSE stated.?

Well hip hip hooray! Apparently you can comprehend some things! Did you also notice I said;
?I guess reality is that many things just do not mesh, its real life across the board and its impossible for it to be solved the way we all wished?

The point Monkey_MCSE seemed to be trying to make is that all the home brewed programs he used should be able to run under SP2, and my point was that this is not only highly unlikely that everyone?s lesser known programs will always be able to run properly in such a case but it is almost a certainty that some would not. And further, there is never likely to ever be a perfect solution because;
?Do you not see that a program invented by one lone star programmer may even be eventually impossibly incompatible to some other lone star programmers program? How do we resolve that??

If your stuck with using SP1 because you use some obscure programs that will not work under SP2, while I feel sorry for people where this happens, I also know there is no point in complaining about it because its impossible to prevent. I would say if a service pack comes out or a new OS comes out and all of a sudden several of the major applications used before the new SP or on the previous OS become disabled the software producer has played a rather cruel trick, and that has happened once recently and it wasn?t MS that did it either was it.
