Politics of undermining the US
I find this more than a little disturbing:

Because Cicconi was AT&T's general counsel before the merger with SBC Communications, he would have been responsible for reviewing the legality of cooperating with the NSA. A longtime Republican, Cicconi worked as deputy chief of staff to President George H.W. Bush and as an assistant to President Ronald Reagan. He's recently served as co-chairman of Progress for America, a prominent group devoted to electing Republican politicians.

That partisan politcal operatives are working within their own organizations to undermine American civil liberties and to make their own rules as they go along. I consider this behavior and organizations like the Federalist Society far more of a threat to this country than terrorism. It's McCarthyism in a new wrapper and it's particularly dangerous where these people are concerned because the law is nothing more than something one must hedge against, not something you actually have to obey.

Personally, I really tired of the right wing acting like the rules don't apply to them. One set of rules for poor people and a different set if you have money. And don't try to deflect that criticism by suggesting the left isn't any better. That doesn't excuse those people or justify any support on your part.
