Accounts been hacked into and all their gold and equipment being transferred to another character to be sold off.

There are viruses/trojans that look for WoW on your computer to steal your account details.

You even have to be careful of any add-ons you put in.

You even get spam in the game to tell you that you can buy 10000 gold for $50. Just go to the website it displays.
