- Devices with physical accessibility by others are highly vulnerable

and thus they need several measures of protection with authentication and encryption. Whoever can get a hold of a laptop with his user still loged on can very easily pick any information stored in there.
It is like carrying a lot of cash in your suitcase. Suitcases / laptops can be either lost or simply picked and then you've lost everything.
The "convenience" of carrying the data with you is a result of inherent limitations in MS windows that makes it very hard to keep data in the data center and allow easy access from anywhere. I don't see why someone should have a whole copy of all data in his laptop. U store a big DB in the data center and U access it remotely via authenticated SQL.
I am very weary that personal data are not protected as carefully as they should and that the laws are VERY LAX when it comes to implementing consequences. As I said stealing this information is worst that stealing CASH from someone especially when all the credit agencies incorrectly charge U with the abuse others did with your stolen personal data ....
It is very strange that nobody cares to demand a proper protection of their personal info by others.... ?? - Posted by: michael_t Posted on: 08/15/06 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
