Understandable, but not likely solution...
I can understand and agree with you that in a lot of cases sensitive information shouldn't even be stored on a mobile device - but there are times when it is needed. For example, telecommuting employees, lawyers working outside of the office, insurance agents, etc... are all examples of workers who will not be nearly as productive without these portable machines. Some businesses, as well as government agencies, rely on laptops to be as productive as they are.

This, however, means they have to take responsibility for consequences of improper security measures... or better yet, implement security solutions to PREVENT these sort of events.
