My Child or Not - Privacy is a Right
I hear everyones comments but I have some points!

1. If it were my child and the police have a suspect they should have enough evidence pointing to them without needing a stupid computer file. If they need a computer file to verify it is the culprit then my tax dollars are being wasted. What do I expect the police to do - pull the sexual violators database and go door to door demanding to check computers?

2. What if an encryption key was demanded for a crime and they were required to give it up based on this new law and what was encrypted was not a crime and had nothing to do with the crime but ruined the persons life. For example lets say someone was cheating on their husband/wife and there were encrypted love letters and it was then released because the key had to be given to the governments eyes (and as we all know - what is found has to be documented in detail) and then is a matter of public record then the marriage is over. Or what if it is adoption records and then the child finds out. Or what if it is medical records that is private. I have encrypted files on my computer and they are nothing! Poems that I have written I never want anyone to see - a naked photo of my husband I took on our Honey Moon Night - My Grandfathers Death Certificate and Will - things that are none of anybodys business and do not need to be seen by others - but now if the Government THOUGHT I committed a crime and they THOUGHT they could prove it with my encrypted files - I would have to give them that to PROVE my Innocence???? NOT IN HELL! Burden of Proof!

The US Government wants to control its citizens and the WORLD. As it is people can BREAK DOWN YOUR DOOR (Police) because they THINK or have Reason to believe that you have something hidden in there and they need it to prove a crime etc etc.

I will give you a perfect example - my grandmother (old grandmother) had her house raided a few years back by a detective and swat team members. Evidentally someone had hacked into some type of security system and when the police traced it - they traced it back to my grandmothers address - let me tell you something - my grandmother does not even have a computer. As a result my grandfather went into cardiac arrest. It was a mistake - the hacker had concealed his tracks well enough and my grandmother is now a millionaire and my grandfather dead.

Now you tell me how the US Government has the right to intrude and invade peoples privacy because they THINK - they had probable cause to enter the house based on the law - their technicians traced it to my grandmothers telephone law - the law was followed to the t and there was an error in their information -but because of that it cost a life - tell me how that is fair. If that law did not exist - that ability to enter a private residence with a court order based on "they thought" - they could have knocked on the door and my grandfather might still be alive today.
