sounds like someone trying to SELL a replacement by making sure the faults of the old version are well known, if the old OS isn't shown to be un-secure there would be few reasons for users to upgrade, but if you can show that the 'new and improved' version has these security breaches fixed, most users will happily shell out the cash to upgrade to the sos with a different version number.
