I agree with you
And I have this to say. Microsoft should not make claims it can not back up. Backward compatibility is impossible if the kernel is locked out in any way. All programs prior to Vista will not run if they can not access core components of the operating system. So to say its backward compatible is a false statement on so many levels.

There may be some programs which are wholly contained without hooks to the kernel that can run, but the reports state that many have problems in the display area where the screen refresh is almost 10 times slower than in XP. But many Microsoft products were designed to run directly from the kernel as it was considered secure in XP versions. Because this has been eliminated in Vista, those programs no longer are functional.

Also, because users are no longer administrators of the local box, that too causes loads of problems for the average Joe User. Having to manually circumvent between root and user will be a chore. But in order to maintain it?s stance as secure, those users must learn, or do without. And because accessing the root may not be a frequent thing, many will forget their root passwords and be stuck not able to load programs that require it. And since most will feel the need to contact outside assistance from either a friend or tech person, because of WGA, reloading the system may be a problem in terms of reactivation. Microsoft claims this not to be a problem but the current state of WGA has shown that it is an extreme problem with no current solution offered by Microsoft.
