Gee don't get your ******* in a bind.
Now if the security on the *NIX systems is so poor then why are we not seeing failures across the internet? 60-70% of the worlds internet is run from some form of UNIX, a very tasty target indeed.

I think you're confused. I've seen quite a few Linux/Apache servers go down. I work on them and with them, and they have to be rebooted just like any other platform. I've also seen my share of Apache machines compromised - compromised via ssh, php, apache, ftp...you name it - if it's open to the net and does anything usefull, it'll probably be compromised eventually.

I run IIS5/SQL servers which have never been compromised in four years they have been up. Why do think they havn't been hacked? They've survived code red, slammer, blaster, nimbda - all those nifty little worms didn't stand a chance of getting in my servers. In fact, I could have never patched them and they wouldn't have become infected. It's not because they are running Windows or Linux or AIX, or HPUX, or Amiga - it's because I bothered to read up on Windows security. Please no Windows security oxymoron jokes.

I wonder if you can even explain to me why, by default (e.g. - out of the box), Unix is more secure than Windows. I'll agree that it is, but so far you've only stated a hypothesis with nothing to back it up. I could make your case for you, but then I would be debating myself, while you tug your party line.

The install base of Linux, *BSD and UNIX far exceeds your precious windows in mission critical and highly visible target environment. Don't believe me, go to netcraft and take a look at how many systems are running Linux then use that feeble ramaining brain cell and think about your last statement.

Ahh yes the old netcraft argument. If you were system admin, you would know the difference between uptime and availabilty. What does time between reboots have to do with security anyway?
