Hackers can just reverse engineer the changes
It doesn't matter if the company keeps the details to itself -- a hacker can examine the patch (compare it to the unpatched version) to see what it fixed.

Obscurity in this case is useless because any hacker worth his salt doesn't need help from the vendor, he can just look at the patch.
