You forget
While the SP may fix some of the problems. It has to be
thoroughly tested with all applications. Testing takes time.
Just blindly applying patches (especially form MS) can cause
more of a headaches then they are worth. It is also
important to read the amended EULAs from MS to see how
much more of your privacy and freedom you are signing
over to them.
