Works for me........
Meaning if it's on, you can't share files even on your own LAN, and if you turn it off to share files, then you are completely unprotected.

I've never seen this problem before. I share an XP box and a Win2K box on the same LAN with the firewall enabled and I have never had a problem sharing files going either way.
