Not completely. It was obviously stolen for monetary gain...i.e., by people who did not want a computer for their own use but by people who wanted to make a quick sale for the cash.

Publicity may have thrown a monkey wrench into their "quick buck" plans? But that was a slow-down, not a complete turn-off!

so nowhere near as much PR BS as some are asserting? Excellent change that there was no compromised information.
