< Never had to fire anyone, but if I did they'd no longer have access to my network. They might not be nameless, but they'd have to come in from the outside. So once again, if they could access my network printer, the printer would be the least of my worries. >

Since you've never had to fire someone, perhaps you're also fortunate enough to never had the opportunity to deal with a disgruntled employee. Employees can fire themselves long before you fire them. They can cause all the damage they can before you fire them or before you quit.

I encourage you to take a few moments to think this through before you dismiss it as something that is not applicable to you. This is something important enough for you to worry about.
