Long held the belief
that the 'smarter' the network printer became, the more of a liability it posed. It takes so much information in, either in settings or the tasks running through/from it, and like said, appears on the network as an accessible device, . . . it was bound for trouble. And on some devices, the patch probably isn't as easy to apply as the device is to hack. Some cumbersome ftp and/or download firmware voodoo, hold these five buttons in this 'secret' sequence, and you're fixed. Yeah right, in a fix.
