Agreed - Wishing Doesn't Make Indian Quality Bad
We're living in a global economy now, or at least it's starting to open up. The marketplace, unconstrained by regulation, will always vote with it's money. If that money is going to India then I suspect it's because Indian companies provide the best value for money. If their goods and services are not up to scratch then the money will soon enough come back to the US.

One thing I, as a New Zealander of mixed American and British parentage, find ironic is the apparent contradiction between the attitudes of US IT staff and the US foreign policy.

For years the US has been forcing other countries to open their markets to take American goods. Think of the trade wars with the EU and Japan over the last 15 years, and the pressure through the WTO for developing countries to drop tarrifs against US manufactured goods. But when the US opens its market and loses IT jobs abroad suddenly people are screaming for protectionism. What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander guys.

Be flexible and be prepared to retrain for another job where the US still has the advantage. Oh, and by the way, I've practised what I preach, I have already moved from engineering into IT and am prepared to move into something else if I have to, to retain my competitiveness in the job market.
