Who are the Black Hats?
A black hat is a person like for example John Dvorak, as so much as his time spent on PC/Mac/Amiga/UNIX boxes. What we did, us the old timers was to have what were called War Games, where we challenged each other to outdo one another, nothing really criminal just things so that we would show up in the local/world news as Elite. Later on in our lives we were hired by computer oriented magazines, computer security firms, banks, and other financial institutes for our knowledge and willingness to dig into the kernel itself to see what we could get into (devilish grin) You'll find most of the old black hats were programmers where we were able to code in machine, C, basic, fortran, cobol, etc. The machine programming language was EVERY black hats friend. But those were the fun days of our youth, now we're white hats. Just remember when you look at another older person, remember he was HERE when it ALL began!
