AFTER 30 YEARS, MS realized DESIGN is necessary! Better LATE than NEVER
"In a session on Thursday morning, John Lambert, a group manager at Microsoft, talked about the focus on security in the company's engineering process. Vista is the first client operating system release to have gone through Microsoft's Security Development Lifecycle, a process designed to prevent flaws and vet code before it ships."

i.e., MS started taking seriously the security BY DESIGN with Vista. It was obvious that all the previous "this next (NT4.0, W2K, WXP, etc.) will be the best in security and stability, was nonsense. This is evident by the fact that even XP which is the safer than the rest, is still going through continuous rounds of MEGA patches again and again.

It is GOOD ofcourse that they started addressing the problem where they should had: at the DESIGN stage.

I sure want them to succeed in their endeavour and render their PC os a true OS. That will give pressure to UNIX and Linux to improve for better functionality and even more increased security.
