The Falcon Attacks... Computers
Hey ZDNet... how about a story about McAfee's newest upgrade that nearly obliterated millions of computers? If you want to know what's going on, check out McAfee's forums:

http://forums.mcafeehelp.com/index.php

The latest McAfee "upgrade", released in the first week of August 2006, caused computers to slow to a drag; sometimes outright blocked Internet traffic like FTP, browsing, and network printing; and hogged system resources like a bandit.

Did McAfee bother to QA this "upgrade" before triggering their upgrade service to poke users until they complied? Or did McAfee intend to trial this upgrade on the few unsuspecting users who complied with upgrade prompting?

This is a hot subject right now...

Must be the new Falcon protection philosophy: shut down the computer so no virus would want to get in.
