So, what you're saying is...
...that when XP was released - pre SP2 - it wasn't secure?

And, if SP2 is so secure, why are there still patches being released to improve its security, and why are there known (and published) unpatched security issues?

Don't tell me MS releases its monthly patches to 'make XP more secure', or 'to improve the security' - both statements still imply that it isn't secure in its current state.

Windows has security issues. Period. And Microsoft, IMHO, isn't doing enough to address those issues in a timely fashion. Yeah, I understand how Patch Tuesday makes it easier on administrators who don't like to install patches outside their scheduled maintenance windows, but if a security issue calls for it, there SHOULD be exceptions to a maintenance schedule. Zero-Day Wednesday is proof of that.

Even for all the talk about the security of Vista (and honestly, I'm sure it'll be an improvement over XP), I believe it'll have issues, too. Period. And it remains to be seen whether MS will improve their attempts to address those issues in a timely fashion.
