New threat from 'suicide' virus

Yes this is a nasty bugger

but it's not the end of the world. One thing, if you get one of these... you will never know until one of the following happens:

1. IRS comes knocking at your door.
2. Credit card bill comes in maxed out.
3. Bank accounts are drained.
4. Your intellectual property or even invention (CAD drawings and such for whatever...) are patented by someone else... and no longer on your system.
5. You get suspicious and have a professional (whoo boy hope you got some $$$ cause it's gonna cost!) scan your entire disk for any evidence.

Bottom line, it all falls back to the following:

1. USE A FRIGGEN NAT FIREWALL!
2. DISABLE JAVASCRIPT IN YOUR BROWSER OR USE FIREFOX WITH NO SCRIPT ENABLED!
3. SCAN YOUR WINDOWS PC ON A REGULAR BASIS BUT AT RANDOM TIMES!
4. SANDBOX ALL ATTACHMENTS IN E-MAIL (Seems to me that this is a Windows problem too...)
5. KEEP ALL AV, AS, AA UP TO DATE!
6. KEEP ALL SECURITY PATCHES UP TO DATE!
7. TRUST NO-ONE! IT'S TO DANGEROUS! (Oh over the top! Or is it, this seems to be the message I am getting from all these scare articles.)

Bottom line if you get hit with one o these, you won't know until it's too late. So have good solid hard copies or even secure (i.e. removable devices) back-ups of your important stuff and hope you never get hit. It's like the planet earth hoping it doesn't get whacked with another big asteroid. It's happened before... we know it will happen again... we just don't know when (or do we?)
