KHTML Can be removed
Well that is if it is installed at all, and what it breaks depends on what apps you are using and even then it isn't much. If you are using Evolution or Thunderbird or sylpheed claws, GIMP, Open Office or Gnome Office (AbiWord/Gnumeric), Inkscape, Helix although there are multiple Xine and MPlayer front ends not to mention the XMMS derived players, and install Nautilus, an orthodox file manger like EmelFM2 (Or midnight commander), or ROX as your file manager then absolutely nothing will be broken.

Both Fedora Core and Ubuntu by default use the Gnome libraries and there are options to use XFCE or Gnome instead of KDE on every Linux distro. SuSe has two SUPER distros that don't include KDE (One Gnome one XFCE). Some distros ship with Fluxbox or ROX- Everything works from the distro without KHTML.

Then again you can use Linux without a single KDE library or QT at all (I am ).

Also a note is by default both Nautilus and Konquerer are not set up to browse the internet. You have to enable them to do so.

I suppose those Windows Managers/OSs also embedded their libraries to stifle competition? Guess what, it didn't work for any of them. Firefox, the only one that can truly be called "unbundled" is beating them all in terms of growth and is crushing Safari and Konqueror in terms of actual usage.

Well to be honest if your talking Linux, Unix likes, or Unix it isn't embedded. Actually there was a conscious deliberate decision not to tie X to any Desktop environment or file manager.

The fact that there is a such a heterogeneous array of file managers and widget sets, even within a single distro, makes it difficult and the payoff low, for any virus written to infect this platform through helpfiles or email clients.

Not to mention the various privilege elevating exploits that still exist in the IE rendering engine (It's called Trident on Windows BTW)...

So yes, this is confined mostly to Windows.
