The fact is that both browsers are vulnerable. A lot of the security issues are related to the user and their behaviors along with the methods used to secure users on a network. And yes, I have to agree that the whole FF being more secure than IE is just crap. Its more the bandwagon mantra by ******** anti MS anything enthusiasts. Especially enthusiast home users.

In our newtork users are actually allowed to use IE or FF. But after recent trojan related issues on FF our pro FF network folks are reconsidering. Part of this is related to the fact that we can automate security updates with IE not really the case with FF. Im sure FF will eventually change that with FF 2.0.

Also, in regards to performance etc (not security) I must say that safari 2.0 on Tiger is very impressive, and in terms of feel and speed it beats Firefox hands down. On windows Opera 9.0 and IE are faster and yes IE is actually less memory intensive than FF. Just the honest truth folks.
