MS is less secure than *nix (including OS X)
Listen I'm no open source zealot, but it has been a well known *fact* for at least a DECADE that MS is not a secure OS. Granted it gets more attention than the other OS's because of the market share, but this alone is FAR from explaining why they keep getting virus's and security problems. MS makes themselves an easy target by not locking out the most sensitive parts of the OS from the average user. They could solve many of the problems they have simply by making the user make a separate "everyday account" and an "administrator" account. They've caught flack for this for decades and still haven't fixed it! Windows still comes preinstalled on PCs with the user in admin mode by default. This is one major reason why *nix (including OS X because it is a UNIX based system) is more secure. Combine this with MS's lovely way of making things run without user intervention, and you have a system with a big friggin bulls-eye on it. Even OS X, heavily regarded as one of the easiest OS's in existence figured out how to keep the user from logging into it as admin on an everyday basis.

In other words, the car with an alarm is "clearly safer" than the one without one. Now imagine you're are car thief, would you go after the one car with an alarm when it's sitting in a parking lot of 80 others with the keys left in the ignition and the door automatically opens when you get near? Or are you going to sit there and tell me that the only reason the one with the alarm doesn't have theft problems (which happens to be a ford) is because the other 80 are GM and they have market share?

Finally, why do you think the NSA uses Linux over windows? The NSA can define an OS that's clearly safer, why can't you?

In conclusion, stop using the "it's got bigger market share" excuse, because that's exactly what it is - an excuse. BTW, this is only one example of why MS is less secure then any other modern operating system I can think of at the moment. The really bad part about it, is that I can make that argument on the dumbest things that have been known for decades that could have been easily fixed many times over by now. Not on vulnerabilities that haven't been discovered yet.
