Creating paranoia
It?s like saying at home because your afraid of opening your front door. You become a prisoner of your own home. Many users are now afraid of opening an attachment and it?s not fair that MS requires that they purchase another license or better, spend time on the phone explaining that their unsecure OS allowed a Trojan in and crashed it to the point of rebuild. Since the key has already been registered, the owner either needs to go out and purchase another key, or call and complain on getting another. Anyway you see it, it?s lose, lose. Like lawyers, no matter what side your on, you get paid.

I don?t necessarily think people should avoid attachments, but I think a little bit of common sense should apply. First, you can download the free version of AVG if all you need is basic virus protection. It interfaces with Outlook and others and scans prior to displaying in your ?in? box. Another program you may want to download is spywareblaster. This is a great program, also free. The only draw back is that you must manually update it. Spybot Search and destroy along with Ad-aware are both great programs, and also free. There is no excuse for average Joe User not to protect themselves. And when problems do arise, and you haven?t done even the least of the above mentioned free software, then you don?t have the right to complain here.

As for MS, I beg you MS, as much as I?d like to bash you, you can prove to the world that you aren?t the lack luster loser your reputation is turning into. You designed this code, you should know it inside and out, and you should know where each and every exploit is. There is no reason for your backseat attitude. Playing catch up to a bunch of hackers is insulting. Now that you have patch Tuesday, spend your time patching holes before they are discovered.
