I don't know about this
I've seen some of this. Maybe for small companies but mid-size to large companies it's not such a good thing. I'd say it's better than nothing but no really something that would cause you ditch your current security set up.

Remote perimeter security administration is just scary if you ask me. If you have someone remotely manage your firewall for example then what's to stop a hacker from doing the same. Better to not allow any remote security adminstration. Forcing all security changes to be done internally is a form of physical security that is very good.
