I am dissapointed, as I thought U could think a little prior to reply.

Using his logic, the probability of his scenario being successful (a SSH host being cormpromised) IS MUCH SMALLER since

there are many more Windows hosts which are MUCH EASIER to compromise remotely, and thus, scanning random IP addresses will lead to several windows PCs getting hit first than THAT particular SSH host.

Even if that machine was visited before the much more numerous windows PCs, the sheer effort to compomise it would stall the attackers efforts for very long time.

Overall, the probability of what he described happeneing is very low. UNLESS, the same person who used the simple passwd ALSO planned the attacks
