- Legal action will avail NOTHING!
- It is time for the IT user to stop the madness. No security utility or legal action will stop spam. We have begun taking this mis-guided approach to all IT woes. The IT user, a real live person capable of thinking, reasoning, and then taking appropriate action, is the only answer to today's mess. Mail admin's. simply need to start blocking IP's of the known spam servers as well as those poorly managed mom and pop mail servers set up by unqualified companies that result in open relay servers. As an industry under attack, we have got to take responsibility for our actions and inactions and repair the damage that we brought upon ourselve due to negligence in our approach to IT. If one is not qualified, that is educated and able to employ that education in the real world, they need to stop trying to do something beyond their scope. Either get a professional to setup and administer the IT or use a service provider with the proper qualifications. Beware, though, of those service poroviders that have failed to become qualified before setting out their shingle. People have caused our current state of chaos and only people can put things back in order. Why is everyone looking everywhere but at the real problem. Maybe because they might have to take some responsibility for this mess. Well, to be sure, that is the only thing that ever cure our woes. While spam is a lowlife approach to marketing, I fail to see the grounds for considering it an illegal activity. Most of it stems from the user's irresponsible actions. Not reading fine print, failing to understand what checking or unchecking a box on a web site they have interacted with, etc. If one were to read the info on most sites when interacting with those sites, most spam would prove to actually be solicited by the user. As usual, trying to blame someone else or expect someone else to be responsible for our actions has become the prevalent way to behave. If you aren't willing to be responsible, get off of the Internet because you are ruining it for those who take it seriously. Find some other form of amusement.
