If you had read the article, you would have noticed that the "agreement" was a one way deal. Microsoft could use whatever anyone said, but not vice versa.

It's especially a concern that Microsoft requires attendees to sign a document that allows the company to use anything that anyone says at the event.

I'm more surprised that this agreement seems to have been in place for a couple of years. I guess no one figured that Microsoft would enter the security market.

Lastly, yes Microsoft should be taking security more seriously, but running a conference where they can poach ideas from their competitors is hardly ethical.
