.net is 10 years LATE
The ms windows itself has many severe vulneraibilities, all
stemming from lack of design and concern for security or
stability. Winxp may be more stable than its predecessors
but it still has several places were security can be
compromised.

The importand factor that makes ms windows insecure and
unstable is that application code is embedded within the
kernel and all security and stability issues in an application
are automatically reflected to the entire system.

MS has a specific reason to stick app logic in the kernel, so
that when you buy a PC with windows it already has the
infrastructure to make MS apps run 'better' than those of
competing vendors.

If one compares the effort and investment it takes to
maintain secure and stable windows networks and those of
another system, such as UNIX, he can immediately see that:

(1) windows required tremenduous investement in $$$ and
laber and is STILL insecure, and

(2) windows cannot scale beyond some big workgroup.

The questions is not why MS produces so crappy s/w but
why people are still expecting that MS will ever this.

Longorn is a system thaqt promises to have the stability
and security that win NT SHOULD ALREADY HAVE HAD.
They are 10 years BEHIND in producing professional s/w.

I wont be surprised if even when longhorn comes out it will
be nothing more than a graphical facelift as all its
predecessors.

.net and winfs and all the nonsense. Just think how much
Linux has progressed in the app area and desktop. UNIX
has always been a stable, mature and secure system to
connect 10,000s of machines together.

MS now wants to play in the high end, althjough the s/w it
provides even for lowest end (ie, the home user) sucks big
time.

So don't get yout hopes up and don't hold your breath until
MS releases serious s/w. Shodiness and lack ofplanning and
copnsideration is what has defined the MS personality so
far. They are not going to change any time soon.
