RE: That is a consideration
The Crackers and virus writers as a rule develop there malware on MS windows computers. All the MS OS's make virus creation extremely easy, actually you can almost point and click one to create it and Outlook or Outlook express will run it. granted this type of virus is easily defeated by a THIRD PARTY ANTIVIRUS PROGRAM, but that will never replace building a secure OS.

It seems as though MS made a decision a long time ago that they would delegate security to third party venders such as Norton rather than being responsible for their own code. From a business and development cost standpoint that makes good sence and its made several companies very wealthy The catch 22 of it is that it seems the ant virus companies have decided to let the malware authors find the holes and exploits for them rather than doing it themselves. This leads us to where we are now. Company A releases an insecure OS and saves on their development cost with the idea the ant virus company will secure it. The anti virus company says yes we will secure it for a price and they are going to save on their development cost by delegating the responsibility of finding the holes to the malware authors or security involved people. The anti virus software companies have broken the chain rather badly by placing the malware people between them and the OS . it should be OS,antivirus, malware insted of OS,malware, antivirus update. Since the business model is so broken the OS company is going to have to build a better OS or suffer the consequences.
