Geezz ... for years I have been saying that YOU CANNOT RETROFIT GOOD DESIGN
to system as spaghetti and as naively though out as ms windows.

MS never did the right preparations and now that all apps have been grown around the naive kernel, the entire platform + apps is like a creature which grew up but its skeleton remained the same size/capacity it had in pre-puberty years.

To put things in perspective, UNIX has not changed that much in terms of basic infrustructure since ALL that was needed has been in place since the 90s. I can see the UNIX kernel being improved upon and getting more efficient but NO extra plumbing is needed just a gradual evolution.

ALl the "new" feaures that Vista adds have been in UNIX kernels since EARLY 90's. MS simly waited too loooooooonnnnnngggg g g g to develop the appropriate infrastructure which any way it should had been there even in W2K....

So MS's motto is: "Play Yesterday, NOT Design Yesterday, Pay NOW"

And, ofcourse, USERS and developers SUFFER NOW. MS is TOO rich to care much about it that is why they have been dragging their feet for 5-6 YEARS with Vista....
