An even better quote
I think you missed the even better quote to totally destroy Richard's self confidence. Turns out that Symantec has to admit that every single flaw they found was fixed before they released the paper.

The team (Symantec) said it found several flaws in build 5270 of Vista and even more in earlier test versions. However, these were all fixed by Microsoft in build 5384 (Beta 2)
...
"While it is reassuring that Microsoft is finding and fixing these defects, we (Symantec) expect that vulnerabilities will continue to be discovered for some time"

And I expect that the sun will rise tomorrow morning. Let the first without bugs throw the first stone. Anybody? Anybody?

I won't even go into the source of the paper: Symantec. Hmm, think this company has anything at all to gain by making people afraid of their computers? Naaaa.

Poor Richard, the life of a "frothing at the mouth zealot" simply can't be an easy or satisfying one. sad
