Corporate worship at the altar of greed
Not that the following is much consolation, but - It isn't just the US. The whole of the "developped world" is outsourcing as much and as fast as it can. Short term gains - the shareholders are happy. Cash appears to be pouring into corporate coffers as the labour costs of everything, from call centers to software development, are offset temporarily through offshoring. In the longer term?

Well, some Indian companies are now outsourcing themselves, to even poorer countries in the far east. The organised criminals have well and truly infiltrated call centers and other operations, and where a criminal can't actually get a job that gives them access to sensitive customer/corporate data, workers are offered lucrative bribes (or just threatened with violence) so that the same information is obtained.

And why? Greed. Greed, greed, greed, selfish greed, the force that drives the western world, and the one which will see it led by its nose to a precipice.

I saw a news item on one of the many Indian companies which once battled for tid-bits of outsourced software development from the UK (and elsewhere). They now have so much experience and expertise that they're making zillions. Why? Well, I used to contract for a major UK Telecoms firm, and their policy for a long time was to employ Indian engineers (at a reduced hourly rate) for a maximum of 2 years, after which they were sent home (this was to prevent them from applying for UK residency). In this way was a legion of engineers given paid training in every state of the art technology, did they think these people would succumb to selective amnesia when they got home?

Greed, greed, greed. Oil, power, money - when the tide turns, and the only global superpowers on this planet are China and the far eastern countries, it will be western world companies scratching around for tid bits of outsourced work.

And we did it to ourselves!

Champion.
