The problem

with a virus that executes a del *.* is it kind of limits how long it can spread. I won't deny that it's no doubt only a matter of time before someone does this but I don't see it being a long lasting virus. One that will make headlines no doubt, but nothing that will flood mail servers. Seems to me the goal of a proficient virus writer would be for the user to not know they are infected. That way whatever back door the virus installed goes unoticed and leaves the machine available for whatever the author wants to do.
