RE: How can the ads be forced?

M$ might end up making an economic deal with this company if this thing grows...but an OSS browser like Firefox will be mended in short order to not include these "DNS ads". Also...DNS is not just for the web...so I just don't see this making much sense."

It isnt that easy. In many cases, the dns provider doesn't change anything about the url that loads in the browser, so if you type www.papal.com instead of www.paypal.com and they cannot correct it (causing you to see an ad page), then the papal.com site still loads in the browser. In that case, the browser doesnt know if you meant to type papal.com or paypal.com, so they cannot block it. The only way for the browser to block the internet ads is if the address was corrected from papal.com to something like opendns.org/adpage.. Then the browser maker could just block access to opendns.org/adpage, and it would then load its own error page, but since they arent going to change the address, it won't do that. I like the idea of getting redirected to the genuine site if you for example go to a phishing site, and I wouldnt mind seeing an ad if I typed a url that didnt exist and couldnt be corrected, but it is just my opinion, and I would only be agreeable to it if the ad did not contain any flash, or javascript, and only if it didnt have any spyware embedded, which I dont know if it will, so for now I will only change my DNS on my test machine.
