your name says it all
Patch after patch after patch, sometimes you?ve got to wonder if these are indeed patches designed to correct an issue. Since WGA came out under that guise, it no longer is a guess. What I find alarming is that you are like a sheep to the slaughter. I understand that M$ licenses this for your use and that they have the right to do whatever, but still. There?s a fine line between privacy, and their claim to protect it. And they seem to constantly cross it. True that most hacks to windows are Linux based but most are not designed to exploit. Many have discovered these holes years ago and have nobly forewarned MS about them, only to fall on deaf ears until now. Seems M$ is scrambling to patch what should never have gone out in the first place. It?s true, M$ does have a larger following and does have some great (in theory) products but I like variety. I like to try different things from different vendors and welcome a different point of view here and there. With M$ you don?t have a choice, you don?t get variety, and you certainly don?t have a difference of opinion. The philosophy here is M$ is god and if you don?t like it step off. No one seems to be on the fence or unbiased, or willing to spout the good with the bad. The concern here and the topic at hand are these patches. I?m kind of sick of constantly updating the system never knowing if one of these so called patches will cause me to reload my OS. I?m on a weekly suicide watch when I shouldn?t be. Any other OS, though not complete, or as secure, at least allows me years of service before a potential problem does arise. With M$, it?s a weekly thing, sort of like playing Russian roulette with M$ as the gun, and these patches as the bullets. Every week, we pull the trigger hoping not to blow our brains out. I?m sorry, but that is no way to live.

I switched to Ubuntu Linux and I don?t have a problem. Everything starts up fast, works great with older hardware and just about every program I could use under Windows I can use a Linux alternative. Though not every program is free under Linux, most are and work better then the windows equivalents. There is better support, and more of it. Since I don?t play games on it, switching was easy. I?m sorry, I just got tired of Windows never making the grade. I?m convinced they never will.
