Removal Not Necessary
It's not necessary for WGA to be removed completely. It's a perfectly valid tool for when you want to get an update. Any company has a reasonable interest in making certain that they aren't supporting a pirated copy of their software. Any automatic connection to Microsoft servers that the end user is not aware of and has not authorized is entirely different. If you choose to run automatic updates and as part of the process you go through Microsoft informs you that the WGA software will run as well then you've authorized that communication and it's valid.
