The current version of Microsoft Office: Not safe at any speed.
Switch to the next generation right now and the vulnerabilities and constant patching will be a thing of the past. The new official version is also available in many more languages and can be freely translated into any language.

Go to http://www.openoffice.org for the official new version of Microsoft Office.

By the way, what was to be then next version called MS Office 2007 is being discontinued. It is years late, suffers from code bloat and security problems and will never be released. Also, they attempted to create a new interface, which has flopped since it is actually harder to use than the old one and requires extensive training.
