Thank you Cable Modem ISPs

Glad to see you are taking action.

We receive a ton of spam from ip addresses registered to the big cable modem ISPs. And when the headers show computers that identify themselves with names such as OEMCOMPUTER and AdamsFamily you can be sure these aren't legitimate email servers.

No amount of education is going to get the average home user to use their computer responsibly. They buy their computer to ?do work and keep up with family finances?. In reality they play games, surf, chat, and email. If asked, they say ?yes, I have antivirus software?, but when questioned you find their AV protection is the trial copy of McAfee that came on the computer and expired a couple of years ago. They will pay $69.00 for the latest NASCAR game, but not spend a dime for antivirus.

Want them to clean up their machine? Shut down their access and have them get a professional to clean up their computer for them. Once they are virus free let them back on the net.

And two or three weeks later, when you detect that their Windows machine is infected again ? repeat the process.
