Home users don't need C2 security
And I don't think most users would stand for having server style security on their home systems. This is one of the key problems Linux faces in breaking into the home user market. There have been improvements, but it still is lagging.

Windows' problem is just the opposite. It ships far to open to exploits because of the weak default security settings and the automatic activation of several unneeded-for-home-use services. There is also have the problem of backwards compatibility to deal with. Home users get PO'ed when the games they played under Win95/98 don't work under XP. The 'solution' for most programs is to run as admin.

It's a race to see if the Linux community can make their OS more accessible to ordinary users vs. Microsoft trying to lock down their OS better without breaking every application (which they recently had a problem with in their Office update and promise to have more of in XP SP2). I think Linux is gaining right now due to how heavily Windows is being pounded by viruses, trojans, and gray area scumware.
