Nobody wants to play with MS...
Liberty Alliance is a direct replacement for
Microsoft's Passport (you know, the "service"
that holds private information and was hacked
into 40 minutes after its initial launch).
Microsoft wants to have their hands in
everything. They want your private information
stored in their Passport system. They want be
the new US Post Office for email (you get to pay
them a fee for every email sent!). Largely,
they want to replace the role of elected
government with their own defacto systems and
services.

No thanks. Liberty Alliance was spawned by Sun,
but Sun doesn't control it. It is controlled
democratically by the members in the alliance
(gee, sounds like a good idea for business or
the leader of the free world).

At any rate, Passport is a big failure and
Liberty Alliance is rightfully the leader for
the exchange of private account information from
one trusted vendor to another -- Amex to
American Airlines for example.

Thank you Sun, thank you Visa, thank you
democracy.
