I will always fail to understand...
why people will continue to get excited about this browser. More than any other browser on the planet, this one is inseparably tied to the OS, by nature making it more of a security risk.

I don't care if its IE25.4, as long as it is tied to the OS, it is a bigger risk than any other browser.

Couple with that the fantastic compliance of Firefox, its strong support of CSS, and features (tabs etc), I fail to see why someone would want to use a browser that FOLLOWS others, and RESPONDS to security threats.

The only reason IE7 exists is because MS is threatened by Firefox. Were it not for this threat, there would be no strong CSS support in IE for years to come. It is for this reason IE6 still displays the Peek a Boo bug. They had no reason to fix it.

So I will continue to use other browsers, just so MS finds a reason to keep their browser updated for those users too stubborn or unable to install an alternative (my mother, for example).

And for those who do use IE7, you have no sympathies when you suffer from a security threat.
