Your argument is captious
His argument was: "I challenge anyone to show me a perfect operating system that never needs a patch." Yet you cite his opinion that patches would not be needed if hackers, etc. did not exist.

Your statement: "hackers, virus writers and the like are not the problem here." Is breathtaking. Of course they are.

Your argument: "If they'd created a more secure and stable OS in the first place they wouldn't have to make it more secure and stable." goes to the heart of, but does not address his challenge, where he implies that there are NO secure and stable OS's in the first place.

In my opinion, the only secure computer has no internet connection, removable media or input device of any kind, and the only stable computer is unplugged.
