Maybe laughable, but your statment is irrelevent
Every ?carper? and ?whiner? about XP always relies on the same flawed premise, and boy is it flawed. That premise is that there is or was some cost and time effective way to make XP more secure, that there was some way it could have been made better. And the true laughable thing is that some of the ?We Hate Windows? gang turns right around and makes claims that imply Microsoft is so inept they couldn?t make a better OS even if they did try too. SO first off, you can?t have it both ways, either it can be done, or it cannot. If it can, and you know how I strongly suggest you give Microsoft a call because you clearly deserve to be their head programmer. If it cannot be done, then I suggest you start making your points on a premise that is relevant and not just a strawman argument that has no basis in reality.

I can sympathize with anyone who argues that they personally think it?s a poor design choice for an OS to try and work ease of use, backwards and forwards compatibility, with both hardware and software, and broad flexibility to the degree that it inevitably results in an OS that will be found to have a vast number of security flaws over the years, but that will still just be your personal opinion, but I can respect that for what it is.

The fact also is that the vast majority of these so called security risks and potential exploits cause very very little upset in the real world, and that?s not opinion, that?s empirically proven by the fact that a huge portion of the world uses XP and other Windows OS?s and yet seldom. If ever do you ever hear of a mass reporting of failing systems due to security flaws. I personally travel in circles where hundreds of laptops are used on a daily basis on a university network, and there are few to none when it comes to complaints of viral or spyware initiated breakdowns.

The reactions of many persons on these message boards are way out proportion to the real world experience when it comes to actual real world problems associated with Windows operating systems.
