Where were the answers to my questions?

what reason do you have to believe that a larger segment than "dial-up users with custom scripting" were negatively affected by this patch?

Not addressed.

Was it "all dial-up users using a service with a 4 in the phone number"?

Was it?

Was it "all dial-up users who have a winmodem"?

Was it?

Again, you are the one claiming that MS is not being truthful. Care to back that up?

So, now that we've established how much you like dodging questions, I'll respond to your post.

Custom scripted dial out does affect programs.

Where did I say anything to the contrary? You were the one who said that this patch affected people who didn't use custom scripted dial-up:
I am willing to bet that it affected a lot more people than you or MS thought it did.

Since MS specifically said that this only affected those who used custom scripted dial-up, how does your little rant about people using custom-scripted dial-up prove, in any way, that this patch affected a lot more people than you or MS thought it did? In fact, it sounds like you agree with MS's statement 100%. Good! Glad we could clear that up!

I don't wonder at all. I'm sure that a quick look at the code showed them that the problem lay somewhere in how Windows handled scripted dial-up. Sure sounds better than some pie-in-the-sky statement that you made up!! Again, I'm totally willing to listen to proof but you've yet to offer any. Try again!
