He's got his work cut out for him
I think they really went over the line with this Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications tool. To validate my copy of Windows when I go to obtain updates or patches at the Microsoft site is one thing, to install software on my machine that surreptitiously contacts Microsoft every time I boot up is quite another. The only way to possibly undo the damage to consumer confidence that has been done would be for Microsoft to abandon this ill-advised strategy and issue a removal tool for those who have inadvertently installed the Notifications component. The rationale for the existence of the component is flimsy at best and disingenuous at worst.
