How would this affect whois proxies?
My domain registrar has agreed not to present whois data with my real name and address, as a personal security measure. Anyone using whois is told that the registrar is proxy for the real data. They will release it to bona fide law enforcement agencies and for legitimate subpeonas. Everything else is told that their request has been passed on to the owner (me), who will reply if he (I) wishes to.

Is the FTC or some other meddling gummit organization trying to take away this capability? 1) I do it so I don't have to reveal my true identity, for personal security reasons (and no, I have nothing to hide; I just don't need some loony getting my phone number and harassing me). 2) Does the FTC really expect every site owner to publish their true identity, especially if they're up to no good? Dream on!

I wouldn't be terribly surprised. After all, yesterday the House of Representatives voted (along party lines) to repeal the First Amendment.
