... he probably is. I've run into a lot of people like him who
simply cannot or will not think outside of the Microsoft box.
From his comments in this thread it's obvious that he not only
has no experience with other OSes, but he can't even imagine
how other systems could work differently from the way Windows
works. I don't use Linux myself; I'm a Mac user, but I understand
exactly what you're talking about. I've used Linux and Windows
enough to know that there are different ways of doing things,
and the way Microsoft chooses to do things frequently shows a
surprising lack of imagination when it comes to anticipating
possible exploits.
But the really sad thing is that people like this guy actually make
IT policy decisions for some small and medium companies. I
don't know of any other industry that lets people with high
school diplomas and very limited experience make decisions
about what tools professionals with advanced degrees are
allowed to use. The more experience I have with IT people the
more I believe that IT doesn't stand for Information Technology;
it stands for Idiotic Tyranny. - Posted by: Immanuel Tranz-Mischen Posted on: 03/14/04 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
